Adobe Acrobat |
Adobe Acrobat is a platform independent program for the distribution of electronic documents. The great advantage of the Acrobat format is that all text and graphic information is retained, so that superscripts, subscripts and special characters such as radicals appear as such, in fact the page is virtually identical to the printed page. All illustrations are included in a compressed format which helps keep file sizes manageable.
The Adobe Acrobat Reader is available free from a number of sites, including Adobe themselves at http://www.adobe.com. Versions are available for Apple Macintosh, Microsoft Windows, Linux, UNIX and other platforms.
Once you have downloaded the Acrobat Reader, you can add it to your Web browser as another viewer and you will be able to open and view Acrobat .pdf documents directly. It also allows you to search for text strings and to print the documents (subject to security settings).
