ABSTRACT:
The first examples of molecular complexes of a substituted b-cyclodextrin, amino (6-monodeoxy-6-mono)-b-cyclodextrin (b-CDNH2), with several drugs and amino acids are examined using electrospray ionization mass spectrometry. The analysis of samples which contained b-CDNH2 with cis-2-(4-methoxyphenyl)-3,4-dimethyl 5-phenyloxazolidine (an oxazolidine prodrug of (1R,2S)-()-ephedrine), dacarbazine, ibuprofen, terbutaline, fenoterol, amphetamine, methylphenidate, glyburide, tyrosine, tryptophan or phenylalanine are discussed. Control experiments and observation of false positives are also presented.

Keywords: Cyclodextrin, electrospray, non-covalent, false-positive, inclusion.
